Leona is a 1 yr old small to medium sized Beagle mix. As you can see from her pictures and videos, she's a sweetheart and very playful with other dogs. She's wonderful with people, very submissive and if you give her a treat shell be your best friend. Lol. She's eager to learn, very food motivated, smart, playful, submissive and a great mouse catcher. Lol.. Yup she's got some prey drive, so we don't recommend her with with seniors or very small dogs. She's perfect with other dogs her size or bigger that are confident and as playful as she. She's respectful with farm animals such as horses, cows and sheep.
She walks good on leash and knows her basic commands. She can get a little car sick, but she still loves going on outings like to pet stores, Home Depot or a stroll on the beach. Leona"s story.. This Sweet girl was rescued off of the streets of Mexico City, starving and terribly emaciated, but she's blossomed into a beautiful and VERY LOYAL AND LOVONG DOG. She eats fine next to my other dogs, but I monitor all my rescues to make sure they don't eat each other's food. Leona is truly a sweet and beautiful girl, she just needs the love she never received growing up on the streets. You can't blame her for being a little shy at first she's gone through a lot as a baby. I think she was kicked and terrified by the other street dogs. Just imagine how many times as a baby she was kicked or shooed away by strangers on the streets, she was hiding under a car when we found her. She would follow people to help her or even just give her a morsel of food. If you saw her before you would be amazed at the transformation. She is under TLC K9 Rescue's wings, and we are so thrilled to have her. I LOVE THIS GIRL!! Her best friend here is Buster, a 65 lb white Lab Mix who is also a gentle soul. He gives Leona confidence and she follows him around, plays with him and even sleeps next to him. If they got adopted together that would make my dream come true.
Leona, is highly intelligent and so eager to please, she's been doing great in our group training classes and learning more and more every week.
Leona has been examined with a good health record, fully vaccinated, spayed and microchipped.
Leona needs a family that will love her as much as she will love her family unconditionally. If you live in San Diego or surrounding areas have a home with a yard with a minimum of a 6-foot fence and would love to adopt Leona, then please complete our adoption application at tlck9rescue.org
