On March 3, 2023 I received a plea to help for a 2 lb 3 month old chihuahua with broken legs. I immediately stepped up and took this baby under my wings and into my rescue. We at TLC K9 Rescue could not allow this horrible abuse to go on another minute yet another day. I named this precious baby Suzy. Little Suzy was trembling from severe pain so we rushed her to the nearest vet which was Sycamore Creek Animal Hospital in Riverside, California. There the vet stabilized Suzy so we can transport her to us safely. Apparently her previous owners allowed their children to play with this 2 lb puppy like she was one of their toys. Unfortunately, the abuse and neglect was immense by the adults in the family. The kids actually broke 3 of Suzy's legs. The 1st one even went unrecognized by the family for weeks. When the kids broke Suzy's 2 leg, (the front right leg) the owner took her to a vet in TJ Mexico. This vet performed the worst surgery imaginable!! He botched the surgery by placing an external fixator on her very fragile bone and to top it off he did not set her bone properly, leaving this poor baby's leg crooked. Two weeks later on March 3rd, the kids broke her 3rd leg (the front right leg). So this heartless family decided they didn't want this dog anymore and took her to the shelter. They wanted to dump her like they were taking trash to a dumpster. Thankfully the shelter turned them away refusing to take her in. Thank God because they would have simply euthanized this precious puppy. My heart broke when I saw that God awful external fixator and screws protruding from her left front leg and to see her shivering in pain was just heart wrenching. Can you just imagine the pain this tiny frail girl had to endure. God my heart hurt for her. So I didn't waist a minute to get Suzy to my vet for a full workup and to stabilize her until we can get her to our specialist. Even our orthopedic specialist was distraught over Suzy's fragile condition and how that external fixator was placed baffled him so much that he had to consult with his colleagues. Her bones were so fragile that he suggested we leave it alone she gains strength for such a surgery. Suzy, stayed in our care for 6 months enduring surgery after surgery. Today Suzy a healthy 5 lb happy 10 month old happy puppy. She is the Epitome of courage!!! Suzy, is thriving and loving life with all her doggie friends. Believe it or not after all she endured she still loves people and children. She is my hero!!! I love this girl with all my heart. Suzy deserves nothing but the best!! I want nothing less than for her to live in luxury for the rest of her life. Suzy, is ready for adoption. But only to a family that is financially able and willing to provide her with extreme care, any future medical care and physical therapy she needs to continue keeping her healthy and strong. I would also love for her to have another small friendly dog to play and bond with. If you live in San Diego county, have a home with a yard and a minimum of a 6-foot fence and would love to adopt Suzy, then please complete our adoption application at tlck9rescue.org
