White German Shepherd / Mixed (short coat) : : Female : : Young : : Small
Frida is a sweet 7-month-old Small White German Shepherd Mix who recently became a tripawd. Her journey has been nothing short of heartbreaking, yet incredibly inspiring; Frida has refused to let her circumstances define her. This resilient puppy embodies strength and spirit, proving every day that despite the challenges she faces, she is nothing less than perfect in every way. So many of us would feel sorry for ourselves in her position, but not Frida—she approaches life with an infectious joy that warms the hearts of everyone around her.
Frida's story began in dire circumstances. She was found on the brink of death, her tiny body battered and broken. A compassionate Good Samaritan discovered her lying outside, desperate for help, and reached out to me. The moment I saw the horrifying condition she was in, I knew I couldn't turn my back on her. How this three-month-old puppy survived such trauma is a testament to her will to live. Her resilience captured my heart instantly, and I made a promise to do everything in my power to save her.
As initial treatments started, we learned more about the extent of her injuries. Frida's bloodwork showed alarming results, and she tested positive for Ehrlichia and anaplasmosis, leaving her severely anemic. Armed with determination, we began administering IV fluids and a cocktail of antibiotics and vitamins. The physical evaluation revealed a completely severed femur bone, protruding and infected. Much to our horror, maggots were festering in her leg, and we had to act quickly to eliminate this secondary threat. The path to recovery was fraught with complications, including a damaged diaphragm that required immediate surgical intervention. I was terrified—was she strong enough to endure it? Miraculously, she pulled through the surgery, and soon after, we celebrated another successful operation: her leg amputation.
Through all of this, Frida has shown an incredible capacity for love and joy despite her hardships. Now fully recovered, she greets the world with enthusiasm, unaware of any limitations. In her eyes, “tripawd” is just a term; it doesn’t prevent her from running, playing with her dog friends, or sharing snuggles with people. She's not just a survivor—she's a shining example of resilience and hope. Anyone lucky enough to welcome Frida into their family will find that they have adopted not just a dog but a little miracle.
